Introduction
Welcome to Our Practice
Dr. Khalil, Dr. Funk, and Dr. Vu are highly skilled oral and maxillofacial surgeons who care for a wide range of conditions involving the mouth, teeth, jaws, and face. Their expertise covers everything from dental implants and wisdom tooth removal to facial cosmetic procedures and corrective jaw surgery.
They use advanced, minimally invasive techniques to rebuild bone, support long-term oral health, and keep patients as comfortable as possible. In addition to surgical care, they are experienced in diagnosing and treating facial pain, injuries, and fractures, providing comprehensive support for both simple and complex needs.
Our staff is trained in assisting with Intravenous (I.V.) sedation or outpatient general anesthesia in our state-of-the-art office setting; patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery.
Surgical Staff
The surgical staff at our dental clinic in pinole are experienced oral and maxillofacial surgical assistants who assist with I.V. anesthesia and surgical procedures. All staff are informed administrative personnel, well-versed in health and insurance policies and are CPR certified. Many of our staff members are also Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified, like our doctors.
Our Vision
Adel S. Khalil, DDS, MD, Giao Vu, DDS, MD and Julene M. Funk, DDS practice a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from corrective jaw surgery to wisdom tooth removal. We can also diagnose and treat facial pain, facial injuries and TMJ disorders, and performs a full range of dental
implant and bone grafting procedures. Our staff is trained to assist with I.V. sedation within our state of the art office setting.

Insurance Information

To accomplish this we work hand-in-hand with you to maximize your insurance reimbursement for covered procedures. If you have any problems or questions, please ask our staff. We are in-network with many insurance plans, including, but not limited to: Aetna, Cigna, Delta, Guardian, Humana, Metlife, Premier Access,
and Principal. Please provide us with your insurance information
prior to your appointment so we may verify your benefits and provide you with an estimate at the time of your consultation.
Insurance
Please be advised that all financial estimates we provide are strictly estimates, as we are not guaranteed anything we are told by insurance companies over the phone. There are also many provisions of insurance plans that we may not be aware of. Although we strive to obtain as much information about your insurance as possible, it is ultimately your responsibility to know what your insurance does and does not cover. After we recieve final payment from your insurance, any difference between what was estimated and what was paid will be refunded or billed to you, accordingly.

For your convenience, we accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, checks, and cash. A $25 fee applies to all returned checks. We also accept CareCredit®, a trusted financing option offering interest-free payment plans for up to 12 months when you apply before your appointment. Our commitment is to provide exceptional care at fair and transparent rates, based on the usual and customary fees in our area. Payment is due at the time of service unless prior arrangements have been made. For any billing questions or concerns, please contact our Dental Office in Pinole at (510) 392-8200. Often a quick call can clear up any misunderstanding.
Please note, you are ultimately responsible for all fees, regardless of your insurance coverage.
We will provide you with a monthly statement for your convenience. Most insurance companies process claims within four to six weeks. If your statement does not show the insurance payment within that period, please contact our office for assistance. Any remaining balance after insurance payment becomes the patient’s responsibility, and we kindly appreciate your prompt payment to help us continue providing seamless care.
